Thoughts on my mindHere, I pulled together in a brief but cohesive way my thoughts on a family tragedy. Victim was my dearest eldest brother. At first I thought it would be simple to acknowledge the statement of my brother’s “whim,” but the case turned out to be not so simple. In its brevities form the story was as: First, my brother was an eccentric genius, but eccentricities eclipsed his brilliances. He was a linguist too and could speak, read and write in more than four languages; English, French, Arabic and Bengali (mother tongue). In his formative years of age he studied in a cadet College. Later, in his high profile mid-career life he faced a critical accident that transform him disable, this pain smashes me too, recede hopes & aspirations somewhat of our family.Feeling pain for his sufferings, I couldn’t withstand and just absorb a series of mishaps news but decided to write down his life journey seen through my affectionate eyes. You will find that narrative here his rough & tumble journey where he got bumped often in every turns. Along with his life, his birth country also underwent a series of changes including a full throated war for “independence” for 2nd time. Decades ago on one Wednesday night (March 25, 1971) for the third time in history, shots were fired in one of the most important Pakistani army engagement ever that instigated guerilla war. People here moved quickly to India, formed ‘freedom fighters’ (FF) association and engaged with Pakistani militia for a fight. My brother then (a freshman DU student) avoided joining the FF association; he remained neutral and didn’t support any specific sides. Victory was obtained at the end of war period bringing an apparent end of tyranny and discrimination on 16th Dec., 1971. No foreign rulers were in the country anymore. My brother’s decision of not joining the guerrilla war with FF association became the subject of suspicion and distrust. People in the freedom loving society played out tricks of dirty harassment to capture, punish or hamper innocent, neutral people’s lives. My brother couldn’t avoid the rage and suffered isolation for a while. With this background incident, his diplomatic job resumed in the country’s Foreign Ministry. Mid way of his career he suffered the stroke while he was performing his duties, received expert medical care. Side effect of this disease is disability confirmed in his body and mind and a dependent life began for him which down the path put him in wheel chair today. So, for him his life’s journey was truly a bumpy one, no one anywhere facilitates anything for him ever. He paid high price by losing his strength, knowledge, power and pride but simply to be alive now. By writing his life’s journey I want to let know other people my pain that I felt along with his now devastated family. This is his records of all precious moments. Let people read the book, feel and justify facts and share the pain with us.
